Baby Millie pattern is ready to be put with kits of hand-dyed wool. I will be teaching a beginner rug hooking class in Tampa at the Crafty Threads Quilt Shop in August, and Baby Millie will be their pattern. This weekend will be busy cutting the strips of wool, labeling everything, writing instructions, printing pictures of the finished sample, and making a chart of the order of hooking. For beginner kits I like to use a #5 cut strip as it is easy to pull through the backing. A combination of hand-dyed wool and a textured wool in the kit gives a student a variety to work with. In a beginner kit I like to make sure the student learns how to hook a straight line, curves, points, nice corners and hook on the diagonal as well as how to easily finish a small mat.
