Pretty Little Pincushion

wool applique, embroidery stitches, hand-dyed wool
Beyond the Blanket Stitch

Another pretty pincushion to have near your sewing machine and fiber art area. A decorative pincushion like this sure beats what I am using now, a jar lid if you must know.   This wool applique pincushion is made from my hand-dyed wool using matching wool thread for the applique.  The best part of wool thread is that it sinks right into the wool fabric fibers and is nearly invisible.  This maintains a nice edge on the wool to embellish with more yarns, ribbons, pearl cotton, and embroidery floss.  I added some beads from my collection (also known as my stash).  I stitched some stems and french knots in the background to add another layer of dimension and texture.   A kit and pattern is available in my online store.
